East Cornwall Hunt MonitorsProtecting wildlife.
Ending illegal hunting.
We monitor hunts across East Cornwall and submit evidence of illegal hunting to police. Our aim is to end the hunting of mammals with dogs.
East Cornwall Hunt Monitors
A local group working to stop illegal hunting.
We’re a new group of volunteers who want foxes, deer, hares and other wild mammals to live without being chased and killed for sport.
We observe hunt activity, film what happens and submit evidence of illegal hunting to police. We also share wildlife rescue contacts and practical information about protecting local habitats.
You don’t need a campaigning background to care. We welcome neighbours, farmers, landowners and anyone who wants to help protect wildlife.

Why it mattersBritish wildlife is declining.
Habitat loss, changes in land management and climate change put wildlife under strain. Deliberately chasing wild mammals with hounds adds avoidable suffering. We believe protecting wildlife means caring about individual animals as well as the places they live.
Everyday ways to help → 19%Average decline in the abundance of UK species studied since 1970.

The Hunting Act 2004 made hunting wild mammals with dogs an offence in England and Wales, unless a defined exemption applies. The ban took effect in February 2005. It did not ban every use of dogs in the countryside.
Documented convictions show the law is still being broken. Monitoring can help establish what actually happened: reliable footage, accurate notes and witnesses can all support an investigation. Read the CPS explanation of the Act.
